PC Build - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
After almost a decade, I’m back with AMD for this build. As an additional challenge, I decided to build this computer using a Mini ITX case, something I never worked with before. The case that got my attention was the Fractal Design Ridge, due to its sleek appearance and its well-though design. (Boy Fractal Design are making so great looking cases!). And challenges I’ve got! First one was with the memory and the CPU cooler. Both could not fit at the same time (I had a Noctua NH-L12). I had to return the cooler and order the Ghost S1 edition, that comes with a smaller fan. This one fitted just right in the case. We decided to install a worry-free distribution, trying to mimic the ease-of-use of a Steam Deck, so we went with Bazzite. THe choice was motivated by a couple of factors; being OSTree-based really helped, but also the fact that it’s based on a distribution that we enjoy a lot, me and my partner, Fedora Linux. We run all our apps (Steam and Itch mainly) through Flatpak, so we don’t have the hassle of packages and updates. So far it kept its promises of being stable, and we are quite happy with it.
